Strawberry Crisp

Simple, perfect strawberry crisp. This is our family's favorite summer dessert!

  • 6 cups sliced strawberries
  • 2-4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated lemon zest optional

Crisp topping

  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • 1/2 cup butter one stick, cold and diced


  1. Preheat oven to 350.

  2. Combine strawberries, 2-4 tablespoons sugar (depending on sweetness of berries), flour, and lemon zest in bowl. Toss to combine. Spread in an 8-x-8-inch baking dish. Wipe out bowl.

  3. Combine oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, salt, and cinnamon in bowl. Using pastry blender or two knives, work the butter into topping until clumpy and well combined. Sprinkle over strawberries.

  4. Bake 50-60 minutes, until strawberries are bubbling and crisp is golden brown.
